WHAT IS CARTKEN?
Cartken is a Silicon Valley-based startup that brings autonomous delivery logistics to businesses such as foodservice, grocery, and more. The team originates as a spinoff from Google’s Area 120 in-house incubator (see my other delivery robot, BookBot, for more background on that). As the BookBot team outgrew Area 120 and spun off into their own startup, the newly-formed Cartken team reached out to me to help design their autonomous delivery robot.
Outcomes + Press
March 2021: Cartken releases their robots onto the streets of Miami in partnership with REEF Technology to deliver food directly to people’s homes.
Jan 2022: Cartken announces a partnership with Mitsubishi to explore the value of autonomous robots.
June/Aug 2022: Cartken partners with the University of Arizona in Tucson and Ohio State University in Columbus for deliveries through GrubHub. Over 50,000 orders were delivered at UofA alone during the 2022-2023 school year using a fleet of 100 robots.
Dec 2022: Cartken partners with Uber Eats for robotic deliveries in Miami.
